71 Days of Summer Fun

by on July 13, 2013

Has thirty days really passed? Well it’s more than that, but the time is going fast. It has rained every day since we arrived in Durham. However the temp hasn’t gone above 90 degrees. Silver lining. I have to look at the silver lining. There’s plenty of AC and the bus system is free, at least the one around the campus.

As I sit here debating on what to write about today, I’ve started a new project. Actually two new projects. I’m not even going to give a glimmer of a hint other than it requires research. 🙂

In the meantime, I’ll share a snippet from my upcoming Sugar & Spice release Forever and Tomorrow.

Embittered by divorce, Dexter Carson resolves to live without love or family. When he arrives at a job site, the last thing he anticipates is his instant attraction to the ebony-haired client. But work comes first, and he’s determined to maintain a professional distance, no matter how his body reacts to her soft scent and feminine curves.

Beautiful, intelligent, Molly Crosby, always doubted a man would love her, and now that she’s forced to care for her infant niece, all hope seems lost. But when she meets Dexter the rugged contractor, she longs to discover what’s behind his solemn demeanor, especially when he rewards her with a devastating smile.

When a bombshell threatens the tender relationship that’s been fostered, will Molly’s love be enough to overcome the mistakes of the past, or will Dexter walk away on his only chance at love and

And a little snippet.

Molly jumped. She darted her gaze around the room, not sure where she was for a moment. She must have fallen asleep, not surprising since she’d gotten very little sleep over the past few weeks. A quick glance down at the baby in her arms assured her Hannah hadn’t stirred. The sound, a faint but persistent knocking, repeated and propelled her to her feet. “Okay. Okay,” she muttered and laid the baby in the bassinet.

Smoothing down her skirt, she hurried to the front door. The only person she expected was the contractor. The knock repeated. Louder. She checked her face in the mirror in the hall, tucked a stray curl in place, then tugged open the door and bit back a gasp. He had his back to her. The white polo he wore stretched across broad, muscular shoulders before disappearing into the waistband of his well-worn jeans. Her gaze drifted over rounded buttocks and her breath caught in her throat. He made her yearn for a tomorrow and forever to explore his body. She pressed her hands to her cheeks. What would she have to do in order to squeeze such a tempting behind? And did the front of him look just as good?“I-uh…may I help you?”

He swung aro

und, a genial smile on his full, sensuous lips. “Molly Crosby? I’m Dexter, from Reynolds Construction,” he said. “I’m here to measure the room.”

He didn’t disappoint. Clean shaven, square jaw and she could only guess at the color of his eyes. The blue Lions cap he wore cast a shadow on the upper half of his face. He moved the clipboard he carried from one hand to the other, drawing attention to chiseled biceps and perfect pecs. She liked the way the polo molded to his muscles, and the embroidered C and R on the right side of the shirt gave her an excuse to linger. Definitely not disappointing.

Maybe too much time had passed since her last date, but she wouldn’t mind sliding her hands over all those corded muscles. She cleared her throat. “I’m, uh, Molly.” She held out her hand. “Thank you for being so prompt.”

When he grasped her hand a jolt of awareness zipped up her arm. A startled gasp escaped her lips, while his eyes widened in surprise. He held her hand longer than necessary, giving her an opportunity to savor the roughness of his palm against her smoother one. What would it be like to feel his hands as he slid them down her body, over her breasts and belly, or lower still?

Forever and Tomorrow is due out August 3 from Sugar and Spice Press.
