Why Michel Prince loves demons all year long.

by on October 29, 2012

As we recover from the weekend before all Hallows Eve I decided to sit down with my best girl Michel Prince to see how the queen of demons takes the holiday.

Hello Michel, you have two series currently out that deal with demons, what is it about them that pulls you in?

What’s not to love?  Lucifer was the most beautiful angel in heaven when he chose to fight with God.  His offspring follow in the same beauty.  In my books we pull for the good guys, but I have to admit that there’s a part of me that falls each time for the demons.

Is it because of the quinticential bad boy image?

I don’t know about that, sometimes people get labeled.  Sometimes they fight to get rid of the image while others embrace it.  In a way I guess it might be their growl, but I always find a redeeming quality in them.  They don’t want to be bad…kinda like Jessica Rabbit.  They’re just drawn that way.  Look at the Chrysalis series where they talk about the difference between a good or a bad life is just a series of choices.  Too many left turns instead of right and suddenly you’ve dug yourself into a hole you can’t get out of.  The main demon in that series is Gaap, although he doesn’t make an appearance until the second book by the fourth you start to see his way of looking at the world.  He’s not really that bad…

What about in The Frozen?  How do the demons differ in that series?
You have female demons that are subgated, but are somehow more powerful and Damarion fears that they’ll learn their strength.  Similarly they are beautiful with bodies any man or woman would love to have and Damarion has is own strong beauty.  Both he and Nye, our hero, committed the same base sin, but due to their reasons or life experiences Gabriel saved Nye while letting Damarion go do Hell.  Much like two men who come up on the similar charges in front of a judge on different days.  One’s life is ruined because he goes to jail while the other’s record gets wiped clean after 180 hours of community service.  We don’t condemn both men but they both committed the same sin.

Do you ever fall for the hero?

I put up a wall around the hero unless I’m in the heroines POV because he belongs to her.  He loves her unconditionally.  I guess I don’t want the rejection of him choosing her over me.

How will you dress for Halloween?

I’m pretty boring.  The last costume I did was a shirt with mini-boxes of cereal and plastic knives through them with red ink…because I was a serial killer.  Yeah, I’m not the one who’ll be in a kitty cat costume or sweet angel wings.  I’ll leave those for Gabriel.

What’s your favorite scary movie?

Did you just ask me that with a voice changer box?  Um…it goes with the whole angels and demons again with Event Horizon.  I don’t know why that one scares the crap out of me.

Which one of your books should we snuggle up with to get the best demon this Halloween?

The Frozen is adult and you actually get to hear from Damarion’s POV so I say go with that one.  Either way you’ll get a treat.

Thanks for stopping by, Michel Prince.  Here’s the back cover of The Frozen…will you want to redeem Damarion too?

You close your eyes and finally make the decision to end your life only to have him show up.  Gabriel, here to give you a second chance at salvation.  They say he’s an angel, but then again, they don’t have to serve under him.  He offers you a chance to be a member of the Frozen,a group of demon hunters.  Serve your sentence and you can ascend to heaven.  Refuse? Well, the punishment’s been clearly laid out in the scriptures.  It’s a last chance.  But when your body is frozen in time, can your heart still beat?

Nye, a former slave who lost his love and was tired of being under the control of another, ended his life in 1859.  His stubborn ways kept him under Gabriel’s thumb and from ascending to Heaven.  Feeling that a woman was the cause of his downfall, Nye hasn’t had the urge for a woman for over a hundred and fifty years.  Knowing he has less than seven years left until he earns salvation, he’s staying on the straight and narrow – until a woman gets caught in the crossfire during a demon hunt.

Receiving devastating news, Kiriana moves across the country only to get caught up in the world of The Frozen.  With each passing moment, Nye and Kiriana are pulled into an attraction that could be their ultimate demise. Or their greatest salvation.

All the while Damarion, is leading a group of female demons as they try to protect the demons sent from Hell to obtain the souls of humans.  Being assigned to Earth as a punishment for crimes against the royal family, Damarion learns that there are dangers within his coven trying to take him down and stop him from returning to his love, still trapped in Hell.  A love he was so sure was true…

  1. I loved this post, what a great blurb. This is going on my TBR. *grins* and I loved the Cereal (serial) Killer costume.
I love writing about demons too (and any other supernatural bad boy).
